Saturday 19th of July – Courtney Oval

Norths play Brothers on this day and it is proposed to have our own ‘executive’ catered function room and stand. Each GOB is to contact all past members of their respective GOB. Each current active Bustard should have no more then 10 ex-players assigned to them and it is expected that at least three from each 10 should come along to this event. That would ensure 40 odd over the hill blokes attend which added to our current strength with guests and supporters should make close to 100 for the afternoon celebration. There will be recognition of players who have achieved reaching the level of playing 101 games. Your cooperation in this event is requested.

Bustards Belt Brewers
(Reported by Sir)

On Friday 23 May 08 we hosted XXXX Goldie’s 20 years and 14 days after our initial game in 1988. A total of 31 Bustards made the game an undoubted success. Seven of the original players who played in that 1st game took the field in the opening stanza – Carrot, Termi, Bammon, Kylie Menot, Sir, [2 others?]. The list of all participants is shown below. An extra special thanks to many who contributed off the field also. The Duty GOB was maroon and Kan and Hack carried that role however others assisted namely; Carrot, Two Turkey’s, Graham, Rainman, Sorrow and Rossco. Oh and thanks to Perko for his pure entertainment value. [Printing T Shirts and missing 20 year re-enactment photo]. Also thanks to the committee members AT, Jim, Jamie [Chef 1st Class]. It’s satisfying to see such great teamwork off the paddock where so much depends on not only the duty GOB performing but others willing to jump in and help. Such things as refurbishing the dressing rooms, serving meals, keeping the BBQ going and the inevitable kitchen clean up. Also thankyou to Leisa Pearson, Worzels missus for filming the whole game without this there would not have been any photos or video of the night.

A good hard game ensured where except for the first score by XXXX [that was to be there last] the scoring was somewhat relentless. 3, 2, 1 points went to Paul’ Butter Fingers Brown” Browne for his hands-like-feet skills, Tim ‘who me’ Doherty for no fear nor favour tackling and finally to an to an old ex-player turned referee who conducted the game in a very enjoyable and most efficient manner, Chris ‘lightning’ Pearse. Check out the website for photo’s of the occasion. Finally the players, members and supporters cab be well proud of themselves for a first class achievement. (As for the game proper a noble draw was achieved.)
